Smion visited Antun Gustav Matos Primary School and held a FoodEducators info session for the school staff as part of the Teachers’ Council.

Antun Gustav Matoš Primary School is located near the green area of Maksimir Park in Zagreb. It was established in 1933 and has been providing high-quality education ever since. The school has 621 students distributed across 30 classes, and the staff comprises a dedicated team of 71 people, including 22 lower-grade teachers and 32 upper-grade teachers. The school is already well-known for its rich extracurricular activities, which include a student cooperative, student fairs, a school magazine, ecology days, and creative and humanitarian activities. These activities offer students opportunities to develop practical skills, creativity, and positive contributions to the community.

The purpose of the info session was to introduce the FoodEducators project to the teachers of Antun Gustav Matoš Primary School and motivate them to get involved in the project. The need for food education was highlighted, emphasizing the importance of healthy eating and sustainable development. Educating students about food helps them understand the impact of their dietary choices on health, the environment, and society.

The initiative by EIT Food, a leading European organization working to enhance innovation and sustainability in the food sector, was presented. EIT Food aims to connect industry, education, and research to achieve the best results in promoting healthy eating habits.
