Social/Positive Impact: The Bijeljina Startup Drill 2022 project aims to stimulate the development of the startup ecosystem in the city of Bijeljina through knowledge transfer and education of city employees and the Innovation Center. This project focuses on improving the business environment, promoting innovation, and supporting local startup teams.

Introduction:

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, the City of Bijeljina is continuously working on the development of its startup ecosystem. Committed to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, the City of Bijeljina established the Innovation Center for Sustainable Development Bijeljina (INCOR) and initiated the education of city employees and INCOR staff in methods for developing a startup ecosystem.

As part of the project, practical workshops, meetups, and startup training sessions were organized with the support of the Smion team. The education was aimed at understanding key aspects of developing a startup ecosystem, including stakeholders, ecosystem development, and tools and methods to support startups and local innovation growth.

Results/Achievements:

During the implementation of the Bijeljina Startup Drill 2022 project, the following results were achieved:

  • Eight city employees and INCOR staff successfully completed education on the startup ecosystem, including stakeholders, ecosystem development, and tools and methods to support startups.
  • The first meetup was organized to bring together relevant stakeholders in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • The first weekend workshop, titled “Startup Drill,” was held, with the participation of six startup teams from Bijeljina.

The Bijeljina Startup Drill 2022 project represents a significant step towards enhancing the local startup ecosystem, fostering innovation, and providing support to entrepreneurs in Bijeljina.
